You’re fine…

My opinion is that any CMU partition wall ought to sit over a thickened slab…

Now, go enjoy the weekend!

Subject: Non load brg cmu wall height-thickened slab?

I wanted to see how tall some of you are letting your non load brg cmu partition walls get before putting in a thickened slab or footing. (I know the soil properties factor into this).

I don't like for the walls to get much over 6 or 8ft before putting something extra in. This is for an average 2500 psf soil site, moderate seismic. So usually that's pretty much most all of the walls for me.

However, I know other engineers that let the walls get up around 15 or 16ft on a 4 inch slab. The walls are braced at the top, and the load at the bottom should be about

1 kip/ft, but this just doesn't seem right to me. Am I being too conservative again?
