Re: Katrina emergency response

Rich,

This happens every once in a while - don't get discouraged.  As others have mentioned, it's easy to just hit the delete key on those topics that are of no interest to you. Some of us in very small practices (self included, here) tend to use it as a water cooler.  Stick around...you'll find that the signal to noise is very high most of the time.  There is no lack of confidence or conviction here, and it shows in the sometimes heated discussions - both political and technical.  Hang around for a while - there will be more than enough technical talk to keep you going.  After a while, you'll get to know the regulars and their personalities. Then you can sit back and be entertained by the rants when they happen, or jump in, as you chose. I think Gail and Bill are coming due for a good tiff in the next month or so, and Dennis hasn't sent out a three-page missive in a little while. And, not to be left out, you can expect me to say silly, inflammatory things from time to time...but its really just to see if anybody is listening (and to hear myself type...tap tap tapity tap!)

Jordan

P.S.: Bill and I rarely agree on politics, so seeing him back me on my New Orleans take made me feel a little dirty...but I'll get over it.

TO ALL:

I recently joined this forum with the intent to discuss matters related to our trade – Structural Engineering.  However, only one in twenty e-mails is related to the field.  The rest, to me are undesirable and should be taken to another forum.  Is there anyone on the Board of SEA participating in this forum?  Can something be done to hold down the political rantings and inappropriate discussions?

It is entirely appropriate to discuss matter related to Katrina as they affect our trade.  The rest should be taken offline.  Please be more considerate of others in the future.

Rich Warren P.E.

His dedication reminds me of the blind dedication and allegiance that the Germans showed to Hitler…Sad really.

As opposed to the blind dedication you people have to unlimited, unfettered government, I guess.
