That is the biggest problem. Or when they make changes thinking they’re non structural and they are, especially in light framed construction.

 

The other problem you get in residential is when Interior Decorators (Interior Desecraters) get involved and FUNG SHWAY the hell out of things after permit is obtained, start enlarging windows or something and don’t tell anyone even the architect. Then the inspector halts the job and framer calls up and says “the inspector said we’re missing a shearwall”.

The problem usually comes by way of changes in the new backgrounds that were not disclosed............and now structural changes are needed when you thought you were done.
