    The LRFD steel manual recommends that you only use hooked anchor rods for columns that are always in compression (pg 14-10). However, you can use Appendix D in ACI 318-02 to calculate a pullout value for hooked anchor rods. This capacity is much smaller than the capacity of headed anchor rods.
