RE: Composite Decking panels

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
This system was what was in use at the Tropicana Casino parking deck
collapse in Atlantic City a year and a half + or - ago.

SJTA has since abandoned it's preference for the wide spread use of
filigree in South Jersey.

Subject: RE: Composite Decking panels

This is a concept widely used in Europe and in select areas in the US.
There are many factors that should be considered in order to be
successful.
The Mid State Filigree uses a composite system
http://www.filigreeinc.com/

All of the design methodology is basic and contained in the ACI. It is
generally shored so that the DL and LL stresses act on the composite
panel.
Prestress is added just to control cracking. Either rebar or prestress
strand can serve as positive reinforcing steel. Negative steel is added
in
the field. Stirrups present a bit of a challenge, but can be
accommodated.

They are able to construct slabs and beams using the composite method.
They
will even glue on Styrofoam panels to create voids and reduce dead load.

Harold Sprague
