Re: New AISC Specs - Backward Compatability of 341-05

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
I meant to ask if it is permissible to utilize ANSI/AISC 341-05 spec with either of the pre-unified ASD and LRFD specs, OR whether 341-05 is to be used ONLY with the new unified spec.

I am working on an implementing project specification and do not want to mis-match reference documents. It will take the industry some time to "re-tool" with not just code familiarity but also code-checking software - will that have the effect of precluding immediate implementation of ANSI/AISC 341-05 on (in this case) private projects?

I'll show some ignorance -- what does backwards compatible mean?

Subject: New AISC Specs - Backward Compatability of 341-05

Does anyone know whether or not the new ANSI/AISC 341-05 spec is
"backward
compatible" with the pre-unified ASD and LRFD specs?

Are any papers or references available that elaborate on the answer to
this
question?

Thank you,
