Putting oars in (again):

I think he means "if you design a given element with the older spec, and
compare same element designed with the newer, do you get the same
answer?"

I'll show some ignorance -- what does backwards compatible mean?

Subject: New AISC Specs - Backward Compatability of 341-05

Does anyone know whether or not the new ANSI/AISC 341-05 spec is
"backward
compatible" with the pre-unified ASD and LRFD specs?

Are any papers or references available that elaborate on the answer to
this
question?

Thank you,
