RE: UFC Seismic Design Crit

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]

I hadn’t really checked that link in a while. There is surely a lot of history to it, but I find the whole system a little bulky.  I just don’t see the point of them trying to maintain a “parallel” series of documents to the IBC for design.  Granted some form nice primers to design methodology, but I don’t know why they would be in that business.  I can see the need for manuals for items unique to their installations like rappelling towers but not for things we all already do like masonry and seismic design.

After several design narratives where I followed the paper trail of all the specifically dated reference and code editions, just to be instructed later that they really wanted the current IBC despite what may “formally” be listed in their data- I just go right to that and add in any particular detailing items they prefer later.

I’m curious to see what is published.

Actually, that references TI 809-04 for seismic design, which is now obsolete.  3-300-10N in a roundabout way says to use IBC 2003 (as referenced in 1-200-01) until 3-310-04 comes out.

I think you might mean 3-310-03 which is available online at http://65.204.17.188//report/doc_ufc.html along will all the other UFC’s. It is shown as updated as of 3/05

Hi all,

Does anyone have any knowledge of when UFC 3-310-04 "Seismic Design for Buildings" will be released?  Maybe Mr. Sprague may have some knowledge of this.  Thanks for any info.
