If both systems use Windoze XP, then I agree it may not make sense.  But

program like Timbuktu Pro is not limited to Win XP.  So, if you work in

mixed environment (i.e. older Windoze version or Macs)

FWIW, there are RDS clients available for Linux--which means they're
probably available for Mac OSX as well. The only question becomes "what
is the host computer running?"

Oh, and if you're using Linux, you already have all the remote desktop
access tools you'll ever need.
