ASME Code drawings typically specify a weld procedure, usually by a process ID. AWS weld symbol terminology indicates the process identifier goes in the weld symbol tail. I've always thought this was a great idea and not just because Harold thinks so, although that's a pretty good reason on its own. I feel very strongly that too many engineers take welding far too lightly.
