Those of us in the Bay Area have our own example.  The new east HALF of the San Francisco Oakland Bridge was originally estimated at under $1B, IIRC, and is now at $6B and counting.....

Generally, take your best estimate and double it!  And take your best construction schedule and triple it!  That'll get you in the ballpark.
