Re: shear stud spacing

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Would it be possible to consider shear keys?

It gets very complicated to have the studded shear plate welded to the base plate.

And if you also have grade beams with reinforcing steel /stirrups/ passing through, it gets pretty messy.

Subject: shear stud spacing

What is the (recommended) minimum spacing of shear studs?  I am using shear studs to transfer shear from a brace frame, to column base plate, embedded in the foundation concrete.

There’s no simple answer to that question.

Look at ACI 318-05 Chapter D.6.
