ACAD 2007 has a command that will identify all the overridden dimensions on the drawing.  This could come in VERY handy I suspect.

Unfortunately, the same can happen in CAD - a numerical dimension can be
changed without correcting the linework to scale.

I thought it came from the "hand drafting" days before CAD when lazy
engineers/draftsmen just changed the number in the dimension string and
didn't redraw the plan/element to scale!
