There is an explanation of the changes in shear stresses at the top left on page two of the following article from the American Wood Council Website:

In answer to your question, yes the shear stress values have been increased by a factor of about 1.

Being from CA, we are current code challenged.
 
In the 2001 NDS, the table 4 shear values are doubled from the 1997 version.  Is this correct? Have the allowable shear values been increased by a factor of 2?
