Subject: Notched Wood Beam

Fellow Engineers:
I have a case where a simply supported, rectangular
wood beam is notched at the bearing ends by halving
its breadth. I'd appreciate learning a method or a
reference to calculate allowable design shear.
TIA,
Irv
