RE: AISC 341 reference guides??

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Thanks for the advice.  Indeed one primary reason I asked the questions concerning seismic design steel references is because I too noted AISC indicated that it would be April before the Seismic Design Manual is available again.  So similar to how you noted, I hope if others have suggestions for other texts / reference guides, it would be appreciated.

AISC has developed a Seismic Design Manual that I found very useful. It is being reprinted and will be available again in April if you can wait.
SteelTips from the Structural Steel Educational Council also has some great papers on a variety of seismic issues.
I have not come across any text that seems to focus in steel seismic issues in particular, but I hope someone else on the list can make a recommendation on that as well.

Subject: AISC 341 reference guides??
I am unfamiliar with the seismic design requirements associated with Seismic Design Category D for steel structures.  I know AISC 341-02 is a reference guide (per IBC 2003), and I have downloaded that document from  AISC, but was wondering if those with more familiarity with seismic design requirements for steel structures could refer me to a good text book or other references to assist me in getting up to speed on the AISC 341 requirements.
Thank you
