RE: Excel Names (was: Sharing Neils tip on Neat Excel Equation Writer)

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Those of you who use names extensively may wish to consider downloading a
terrific freeware utility called Name Manager, by Jan Karel Pieterse. You
can find it at:

http://www.jkp-ads.com/OfficeMarketPlaceNM-EN.asp

I use names a lot, because it makes it much simpler to refer to cells from
VBA. This Add-in makes it easy to manage names -- creating, editing,
hiding, changing scope, etc. It's a great tool.

A shortcut to using insert>name>define:

There is a "name box" just above column A, typically it shows "B2" if you
are in cell B2. If you click into the "name box" you can just type the
"name" you want and it does the same as insert>name>define.

If you want to put a "name" into a formula, mid formula you can hit F3 and
it brings up a list of the previously defined names.
