RE: Wind drift

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
BIA has a recommended L/600 deflection limit for studs behind veneer. ACI
530 has a deflection limit of span over 600 for stuff supporting masonry. I
think you could extrapolate drift from from these.

The current printing of Metal Building Systems Design and Specifications has
a good talk on wind drift limits from different text books and committees for
more than just metal building systems.

It talks about the AISC Design Guide No. 3 which says that this was put
together by MBMA and AISC. It has pretty big limits for bare frames with
only exterior cladding without interior walls but says H/500 for interior
partitions.

I don't think there is one. Story drift is given in the seismic provisions
of IBC/ASCE7.
