I was going to suggest researching refactories: ceramic like materials. But they would be better for the furnace and the casting.


I would start with what performance characteristic of the melting pots are they attempting to improve? The flow of molten metal ? Reduce the amount of metal sticking to the pot? Want to increase operating temperature? Maintain temperature for longer, and slow cooling? Improved strength and durability?


Once got the characteristics sorted then seek out suitable materials, or combination of. May be necessary to line interior and exterior to achieve over all objective. Or may even be better to redesign the whole process, if fuel efficiency and heat losses are an issue.
