Mr. Obama, while well intended, is trying to do too much.

The economy is the #1 problem facing this country; once job losses abate, Foreclosures will drop and people can keep their homes.

Health Care reform can wait, if ever.

To "Rahm" a bill thru Congress for the sake of trying to beat some imaginary

The handling of the Bailout is a disgrace; allowing B of A to borrow money

Small business is getting strangled by the lack of credit, but little or no Aid was offered to Small Biz...it all went to Wall Street.

UPDATE:

Mr. Obama admits that the goal is to "replace private health insurance with the government-run program."

http://www.breitbart.tv/uncovered-video-obama-explains-how-his-health-care-p
lan-will-eliminate-private-insurance/

Consider:

1. Medicare and the federally-funded and state-administered Medicaid programs are going bust. Inefficiencies (what Obama states is the purpose of the single-payer plan) and bureaucracy are the main culprits for rising healtcare costs.

2. The pushback from the voters has caused the administration and congress to start covering up their clearly-stated aims.

3. Congressmen are getting an earful from constituents and will likely come back from their Summer recess ready to scrap the Obama plan. This is headed toward a major FAIL for the Obama folks, and likely will hamstring his weak presidency from now on.

4. If the Republicans can get their act together - by no means a certainty - the Democrats are toast in 2010.

I do admit I am shocked. But I am also glad to see that this isn't so much a partisan issue as some people contend.

Yes, it's going to hurt Obama's presidency because he staked so much on it. One can't blame him for thinking that his election meant everyone agreed with all his agenda, but he certainly hasn't bothered finding out, has he?

For once - just once - I'd like to see a free market solution TRIED.

Compare the cost of elective procedures that are not typically covered by insurance. One such would be laser vision correction (LASIK, e.g.) Do you realize the cost of those procedures have gone down to about a THIRD of what they were ten years ago in real dollars? And that's WITH the advances is techniques and technology that have occurred over that time - in fact, such advances have helped lower the costs.

How can this be? How can laser vision correction (and plastic surgery, and cosmetic venisurgery, and a host of other "elective" procedures) have bucked the trend against rising medical care costs?

The answer is simply "government regulation and oversight." What the government regulates and oversees, almost always increases in cost beyond the norm. I remember when ALL airlines in the U.S. were Federally regulated to the extent that a ticket from city A to city B cost EXACTLY the same, to the penny, no matter what airline you flew on - and there were no such things as "low-fare carriers," etc.

I paid $340 once to fly on American airlines from Birmingham, Alabama to Mobile, Alabama, round trip. I can pay about that same amount right now between those cities - thirty years later - on AirTran (and yes, both times, you go through Atlanta).

I know I'm being somewhat simplistic, and there are exceptions to every rule, but the general rule is valid. In general, you will pay MORE for LESS CARE under the government-run health plan that Mr. Obama is trying to "rahm" down our throats. And you know that once it's in place, we'll NEVER be able to go back to where we used to be.

And yeah, big business is just drooling over this. They're thinking "great, we'll let all the taxpayers pay for healthcare, and we're off the hook." Anyone who thinks that this is about "gubmint" vs. "evil corporations" isn't paying attention.

It's about freedom vs. serfdom.
