Side notches in Glulam

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
I have a timber frame client which wants to house some timber joints into glulam beams. When we do this with timber, we simply reduce the section. Provided that the top and/or bottom of a glulam isn't notched any more or less than the inner plies, does anyone know of specific prohibitions against side notches for housing (likely to be 0.5 to 0.75" in a 5-1/8 wide member)?
