Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges, 17th Edition is the design standards for the maintenance and rehabilitation of older, existing structures.
For new bridge designs, it is superseded by the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications 5th edition.
Can anyone explain to me the differences between the AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications, 5th edition and the Standard Specification for Highway Bridges, 17th edition?
Which one would be better utilized in steel connection design for a draw-bridge? (in addition to the Movable Bridge Design Specifications that is)
