RE: new cbc / labc

Well, the IRC is now mandating fire sprinklers in new residential construction.

It’s time for us structural engineers to mandate that we alone be allowed to analyze all sprinkler systems for structural adequacy.  Due to the risk of sprinkler system failure, we will be allowed to charge a surcharge for this service to cover the risk.  If the fire personnel are making more money off this, we should too.  (Sorry to get off track).

Could someone tell me if there are any significant changes to the upcoming new (Jan 1)  cbc / labc code and if so what they are (in general)

Thanks in advance
