SEAOSC Webinar on New Zealand EQ

Join your fellow engineers on June 7 for a Webinar on “New Zealand Earthquake: A USAR Perspective” by Peter Sarkis S.E., Principal, Petra Structural Engineers. 12 p.m. (Noon) PDT.  The presentation will go through the earthquake of February 22nd 2011 in Christchurch from a USAR point of view.  First we will talk about the role of a structural specialist on a USAR team, how the team gets activated and deploys.  The discussion will talk about some earthquake facts and what was actually observed in Christchurch and will talk about different building (and damage) types seen in the earthquake.  We will talk about wood buildings, URM buildings, concrete structures (different types of behaviors, yielding and collapses) and precast concrete stairs.  To register go to: http://www.seaosc.org/events_detail_announcement.cfm?pk_announcement=37
