Thurs., Dec. 15 - Webinar: The Structure of Seismic Readiness for Hospitals by Joe La Brie, S.E., CEO and Founder of MakeItRight, Inc., and Paul Coleman, Deputy Director for the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). Abstract: As we near the end of 2011, leaders in the health care industry are challenged in new ways to improve the seismic safety of hospital building structures and systems. Evolving legislative conditions that influence strategic seismic safety compliance plans and enforcement have created a complex array of regulations. To responsibly advise hospital clients, close attention must be paid to these regulations and thoroughly understood by design and construction professionals. What are the critical messages regarding seismic compliance that design and construction professionals must communicate to their hospital clients? How is OSHPD changing to adapt to new conditions? How might SB-499 and SB-90 change the path towards compliance for hospitals? How is the Hospital Building Safety Board (HBSB) being mobilized to assist OSHPD and what outcomes are expected? What are main challenges that must be overcome to be properly prepared for the next big earthquake? This webinar will provide information about the current issues that affect the readiness of California Hospitals for our next big earthquake.
