Re: Bay Bridge Broken Bolts and Tendon problems in segmental portion

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Here is a new item on the New Bat Bridge: http://cirrus.mail-list.com /seaint-seaosc/65239698.html bridge.html The new bridge is about 10,000 feet long, 2000 feet is the steel part including the SAS span , where about 2600 A354 BD anchor rods and bolts are used. The remainder, the 8,000 feet long portion is R/C post-tensioned segmental spans. The latest news item says that some post tensioning tendons have corrosion.

Again, not an expert on this...that's the basis of our occasional
relationship over the years...but my understanding is you have the
following:

A153 ZINC COATING (HOT-DIP) ON IRON AND STEEL HARDWARE
B695 COATINGS OF ZINC MECHANICALLY DEPOSITED ON IRON AND STEEL

Either of which may be used to galvanize fasteners.

Is there any advantage to B695 as far as H.E. is concerned?

If the issue is hot dipped galvanized, I don't blame them for not
