Re: "Service" Loads

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]

If you are referring to the Simpson Anchor Designer, The load tab shows the
load input field with the subscript "u" , meaning the ultimate (factored)
load. There is the service load wizard tab, below the load tab, where you
input the service load (unfactored load) and the program will use the load
combinations you specify to apply the load factors for you. There is also a
note that says if you input the load in the load tab, it will override the
 wizard values.

Subject: [SEAINT-SEAOSC] "Service" Loads

Excuse my ignorance, but in the new Simpson anchorage software program, it
asks to input "Service" loads- are these "strength" or "ASD" loads? I
believe it is "strength, but want to make sure and I am not getting a
response from Simpson, (because the question is too stupid?), but 2
engineers I have asked have given me opposite answers.

Thanks in advance,

Larry Hauer, S.E.
