Scary. Bill is correct. You must read these reports - sometimes you will send them back to complete their job. Sometimes you have to have them modify their reports. If they gave you something over the phone, make sure that it gets in writing eventually. I like to have them look at my design/calcs to confirm that I used their information correctly.
If possible, have the geotech inspect the site during construction so that they can confirm what is at the site is also the same stuff they are talking about in their report. I have always tried to have the geotech as part of my "team". Unfortunately you usually inherent these companies and there can be problems. Particularly in interpreting the report.

Not sure how you "leave it to the mudders" when you have to use their reports for foundation design. -----Original Message----- From: seaint-seaosc(--nospam--at)mail-list.com [mailto:seaint-seaosc(--nospam--at)mail-list.com] OnBehalf Of Gary L.
