RE: Poll: Software

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
I'll limit the scope to only what I typically do on my job - obviously
there are many things I do less frequently that are nevertheless important
from time to time.

VISUAL ANALYSIS (structural analysis and design of concrete, steel, wood,
etc.) ASDIP STEEL (Base Plate and composite beam design)
SMATH STUDIO (FOSS "clone" of Mathcad, for general calculation and calc

It so happens those are the three I use most frequently for what I do,
though as I said, others are very important also from time to time.

Oh, and I should add: One major reason for my favoring these packages in
particular is the lack of constricting licensing constraints. The
publishers consider you to be a person of integrity first and foremost.

For the purposes of this poll, assume the "authorities" have stipulated
that you can only use three software programs to do your job.

What would be your three programs? No, Microsoft Office is not one program.
