Re: Allen, TX HS stadium

The city of Allen, Texas uses the 2009 IBC with local amendments; however none affect the structural sections. Allen is just northeast of Dallas in Collin County.

The radio press reported yesterday that parts of the structure were underdesigned by as much as 70% on the columns. Nothing official has been released yet. If you want to kill sometime on this try googling PBK Architects to see the hot water they are in before this.

Here is a link to the 70% figure along with other reported problems:

Fellow engineers,

Given things that Bill Polhemus has said (also from other sources) only parts of Texas actually have a building code. One good question might be "Is there actually a building code in force that is applicable to this stadium?"
